Few brands of aluminum freshwater fishing boats enjoy a reputation for quality and innovation on par with Lund. Equally known for quality construction and innovation, a number of the company’s design approaches over the years have gone on to become standard features and become offered by competitors as well. Among the company’s current lineup, perhaps no model demonstrates this legacy better than the 1775 Impact SS.

With an overall length of 17 feet, nine inches and a beam of 94 inches, the 1775 is large enough to take on relatively large lakes while still small enough to be easily towed with a mid-sized SUV. A raised bow pad provides a secure spot to mount an electric motor, while below its large front casting deck there’s an aerated 12-gallon live well that’s a full 28 inches in length. You’ll also find a lockable, center-mount rod storage locker up front, with plastic tubes to protect individual fishing rod tips from damage and eliminate tangles. This large compartment accepts five rods to seven feet in length, plus an additional five rods up to six feet, six inches in length. There is further storage for rods up to eight feet in length located in sidewall compartments in the main cockpit.

Lund Impact 1775 Helm

The stylish helm features large, easy-to-read analogue gauges, a beefy steering wheel and plenty of space to mount aftermarket electronics.

Step aft through that curved walk-through windshield and the main cockpit also boasts impressive interior space. The driver and navigator enjoy swiveling bucket seats on pedestal bases, while a rear bench seat with integrated beverage holders accommodates two additional passengers. There are six seat bases in all, giving the ability to reposition the pedestal-mount seats as needed, or add more as required.

The big windshield sits atop full consoles for the driver and front passenger, each fitted with an integrated beverage holder and a cargo tray for sunglasses or other small items. The passenger console offers a large locking glove box for secure storage of car keys, wallets, cell phones and other valuables. A mesh pocket below the console accommodates bug spray, sunscreen and other supplies you’ll want to keep within easy reach.

Lund Impact 1775 Impact Bow

The large, carpeted bow casting deck has a live well and storage beneath. There’s plenty of room for two anglers.

The driver’s helm console features analogue black-on-white instruments, including a speedometer, tachometer, fuel and trim gauge. The tilt steering wheel offers a nice non-slip grip and fits the hands nicely. To right of the wheel, a row of waterproof rocker switches control the lights, live wells and other accessories. Just below them is a small storage tray and the control head for the Infinity AM/FM stereo. There’s also a useful 12-volt accessory plug. Up top, a large flat dashtop allows for easy installation of additional electronics, such as a fish finder or GPS.

If you’re not using the rear bench seat, it can be flipped down to create a large rear casting deck with a carpeted top. A second aerated live well (this one 18 gallons) is built for big fish, thanks to its 40-inch length.

Lund Impact 1775 Rear Casting Deck

With the rear seats lowered, the 1775 offers one of the largest rear decks on the market.

The 1775 Impact SS is designed to provide great performance with fuel-efficient outboards in the 70 to 125 hp class. Our review boat was rigged with Mercury’s all-new four-stroke 115, complete with the upgraded Command Thrust gearcase. Apart from providing more low-end muscle, the Command Thrust lower unit accepts a full range of stainless steel or aluminum propellers, allowing an owner to perfectly set up the motor to match their particular needs. It’s a good match for the Lund’s IPS performance hull, providing good acceleration out of the hole and a top speed in the mid-40 mph range with two people aboard and a full tank of gas. Our zero-to-30 mph times were about 10 seconds, which is really good for an engine designed primarily for low emissions and great fuel economy.

Lund’s 1775 Impact SS is a versatile performer that’s just as happy fishing in a tournament or taking the kids for a ride after dinner. It doesn’t take long to appreciate why it’s grown to become one of Lund’s most popular models.
