Yanmar Introduces Turbo Dtorque 111 Diesel Outboard

Diesel engine manufacturer Yanmar has announced a new addition to its acclaimed line of marine inboard and stern drive engines with the launch of the all-new Dtorque 111 diesel outboard.

Produced in partnership with German manufacturer Neander Shark, the Dtorque 111 is a compact, twin-cylinder, 50 horsepower diesel outboard that’s designed to revolutionize the small boat market with an expected lifespan of well over 10,000 hours – said to be double that of a comparable gasoline outboard. The Dtorque 111 offers a torque output of 111 Nm at just 2,500 rpm, which the manufacturer claims to be better than that of recent 70 horsepower four-stroke gasoline models.

The Dtorque 111 is the world’s smallest diesel outboard engine with common-rail fuel injection. This enables it to deliver an impressive performance with class-leading fuel economy and exhaust emissions.

Yanmar will initially target the new engine at commercial and government customers, who tend to put their engines through heavy use. But the company also has its sights on the yacht tender market, eliminating the need for yachts to carry gasoline in addition to their own diesel fuel. The first deliveries are expected in the next few weeks.
