Yamaha Releases 5 New Outboards

Yamaha has announced the release of five new outboard motors for the 2017 model year, building on its already extensive four-stroke lineup. The new engines include the F25, F75 and F90 mid-range models, and VF115 and VF175 V-Max SHO X-Shaft models with extended 25-inch shafts.

Weighing just 126 pounds, the new F25 offers the best power-to-weight in its class. Built on an all-new two-cylinder powerhead with electronic fuel injection, the new engine is now resting-pad equipped on two sides for more storage options.

The F75 and F90 share a single overhead camshaft to drive four valves per cylinder. Weighing in at 353 pounds, the F90 is 13 pounds lighter than its predecessor. Both the F75 and F90 are compatible with Yamaha’s variable trolling RPM switch for slow trolling, can be rigged for use with Yamaha’s award-winning multifunction tiller handle, and feature improved charging, with 35 amps of power over the previous 25 amps. The F90 and F75 are both compatible with Yamaha’s Command Link 6Y8 and 6YC digital gauges, as well as Yamaha’s Y-COP for increased theft protection and security.

Designed for deep-V aluminum boats, bay boats and center consoles, the V MAX SHO 115 and 175 X-Shaft models feature Yamaha’s 16-valve double overhead cam four-cylinder design for more power and midrange torque. The engine weighs just 386 pounds and works with analog, 6Y5 digital or Command Link gauges.

All five engines are available now, and will be making their debuts at winter boat shows.
