Suzuki welcomed several hundred boat builders and boating media from around the world to a gala unveiling in Boca Raton, Florida, last week as the company unveiled it’s all-new 350 hp DF350A four-stroke V6 – a beast of an engine described as “the ultimate four-stroke outboard.”

In fact, the 4.4L V6 four-stroke is the largest, most powerful outboard Suzuki has ever built, packing a wealth of technological breakthroughs into its 727-pound frame. In development for more than three years, it features a high-performance 12.0:1 compression ratio, the highest ever for a production outboard engine, and the first-ever appearance of twin contra-rotating propellers on a production outboard. Further innovations include a revised air intake system that allows the engine to draw in ample fresh air while separating out water, spray and moisture; the use of two smaller fuel injectors for precise injection of fuel to the center of the combustion chamber to avoid off-centre combustion and knocking; advanced piston technology; and dual propellers that provide greater grip while retaining a streamlined gear case for no loss of speed or stability.

The low-emission DF350A is CARB 3-rated. Available in a choice of black or white finishes, it runs on standard 90-octane fuel and is fully NMEA 2000-compliant. Other key features include digital shift and throttle, Suzuki’s Lean Burn control technology, and compatibility with SeaStar joystick controls. Like Suzuki’s other V6 outboards, the DF350A features an offset driveshaft, which allows for a more compact overall size and two-stage gear reduction.

The DF350A begins shipping to dealers this summer, with a retail price starting at $31,565.
