Who wants a Lexus-branded 42-foot luxury sport yacht?
Marquis Yachts, LLC, the parent company of Marquis and Carver Yachts, joined with Toyota Motor Corporation to unveil a one-of-a-kind 42-foot Lexus open sport yacht this week in Miami.
Following Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz, Lexus is the latest luxury automaker to debut a custom yacht. Constructed from carbon fiber, the futuristic-looking Lexus yacht is powered by a pair of V8 engines which are currently used in the Lexus RC F, GS F and LC500 automobiles, which are visible from above through a clear engine compartment. Generating 440 horsepower, the marinized powerplants are said to be capable of driving the yacht to a top speed in the 50 mph range.
“We are honored and extremely proud that Toyota Marine and Lexus selected Marquis Yachts and our hundreds of boat builders to build this concept boat,” stated Marquis Yachts president and CEO Rob Parmentier. “The selection of our organization is a recognition of the ability of our employees to build high-quality boats to the impressive standards of a premier automaker like Lexus – a company that has come to symbolize precision execution and quality in the minds of luxury consumers.”
“We are honored to have worked side-by-side with Marquis on this very expressive and unique project for Lexus,” said Hiroshi Morimitsu, general manager for Toyota Marine. “Marquis Yachts management and employees immediately took ownership and have invested themselves in this incredible project as if it were theirs, and we felt a kindred spirit and trust in them.”
Don’t expect to see the new Lexus yacht on sale at the local dealership any time soon – there is no word yet on if or when the showpiece prototype will actually enter production.
