Honda Marine released three new portable outboards last week, with the unveiling of its all-new BF4 and BF6 models, and its redesigned BF5.
All three share a common 127 cc four-stroke, single cylinder powerhead, and are available with either a short (15 inch) or long (20 inch) shaft. “The new Honda BF4, BF5 and BF6 engines are easy to start, easy to stop and easy to carry,” said Mark DiPietro, senior manager, Honda Marine. “The new Honda BF4, BF5 and BF6 marine engines feature a new internal fuel tank and new motor mounts to run quietly and smoothly, while delivering the longest continuous running time.
A combination of light weight (roughly 60 pounds) and new carrying handle design is said to make the new engines easy to transport and store. The 1.5L internal fuel tank delivers about 40 minutes of running time at wide open throttle, while all three engines can be connected to an external fuel tank for longer journeys. Redesigned rubber motor mounts reduce vibration and noise at all rpm ranges, while an optional charging system with a capacity of 6 amps at 12 volts is available. MSRP in the US is $1,875 for the BF4, $2,025 for the BF5 and $2,150 for the BF6.
