Portsmouth, Rhode Island-based boatbuilder Hickley has announced that Peter O’Connell will assume the roles of president and CEO effective September 1. He succeeds Jim McManus, who passed away in November following a battle with cancer.
O’Connell has held senior executive positions at a number of firms in the marine industry, having served as CEO of Lewmar from 2005 to 2009, president of Clyde Marine from 2000 to 2005, and CEO for Navtec from 1994 to 1999. He was most recently CEO at privately-held technology firm Datacom Systems.
“Peter is an experienced and avid boater and also the proud owner of a Hinckley Picnic Boat,” said Hinckley chairman, David Howe. “After a thorough and exhaustive search process, Peter rose easily to become our top candidate. He embodies exactly what we sought for this important role. His experience as a Hinckley buyer and service customer provide useful insights and perspectives.”
Founded in 1928, Hinckley manufactures a range of jet-propelled powerboats from 29 to 55 feet and sailboats from 42 to 50 feet, along with additional yachts under the Hunt Yachts and Morris Yachts nameplates.
