New Freedom 215 combines serious fishability and family-friendly amenities
Greenville, North Carolina-based Grady-White Boats has introduced an all-new 21-foot dual console model as the latest entry in its popular Freedom lineup.
The new Freedom 215 borrows a number of design elements from the company’s larger 33- and 37-foot Freedom models, then adds a few of its own – such as transom swing-away port and starboard aft seat backrests which pivot out of the way for easy access to the extended swim platforms, a first in the industry and a highlight of this boat’s versatile functionality.
Standard features include horizontal rod storage holders under the gunwale, four vertical rod holders, and the buyer’s choice of a comfy sleeper companion seat with storage underneath, or a deluxe chair to match the standard helm seating.
The helm features a flush mount area for an electronics screen of up to 12 inches, and a lockable compartment that includes tackle trays. Forward of the companion seating are the controls for the standard premium stereo, and plenty of storage areas, as well as a kid-friendly enclosed port side lockable head compartment.
The bow area provides comfortable cushioned seating with thick bolsters and backrests for up to five adults. Two 56-quart insulated boxes are located under the bow seating, while an available cushioned insert turns the entire area into a sun platform.
The transom houses a 64-quart cooler, which can be replaced with an optional a 16- gallon live well. An optional ski pylon tucks into the transom when not in use, while a recessed freshwater cockpit shower with a 10-gallon freshwater tank are available as an optional upgrade. Rated to handle outboards to 250 horsepower, the Freedom 215 is expected to arrive in dealer showrooms this summer.
