BRP, manufacturer of Evinrude outboards and Sea-Doo personal watercraft, has signed an engine supply agreement with Whitmire, South Carolina-based Sea Pro Boats.
The agreement will see BRP supply Evinrude E-TEC engines on seven new Sea Pro models launched in the mid-tier center console saltwater fishing boat market for 2016.
“We know boat manufacturers like Sea Pro design their boats for optimal performance, efficiency and reliability, and they want an engine that enhances the owner experience,” said Alain Villemure, vice-president and general manager of BRP’s Marine Propulsion Systems division. “The Sea Pro brand is a great addition to our fleet of OEM partners who share our passion for the water.”
Originally founded in 1987, Sea Pro Boats moved to a new manufacturing facility in Whitmire this summer. Located just 13 miles north of the original plant in Newberry, SC, the new facility spans more than 200,000 square feet, allowing the company to significantly increase production volumes.
“When I first heard that BRP was offering interchangeable cowling panels for the Evinrude E-TEC G2 engine that allows for customizable color options, I thought it would be an inventory challenge. I was wrong. It really could not be easier. We’re offering eight different hull color options and BRP offers panels that perfectly match each one,” said Sea Pro Boats president, Jimmy Hancock. “The power of this engine is unbelievable. We tested our 239CC with a 300-hp Evinrude E-TEC G2 engine and it jumped up on plane like an inboard tow sport boat. I can’t wait to test it on some of our other models.”
