Lowe FM 1810 Pro WT Review

The Lowe FM 1810 Pro WT is a comfortable and versatile boat that does a lot of things well, making it a great choice for anglers who like to enjoy it all.

It isn’t easy to build versatile, multi-species fishing boats that can excel at trolling, drifting or casting for everything from lake trout down 120 feet to bass and crappies under a dock. One great example of this exception versatility can be found in the Lowe FM 1810 Pro WT.

The FM part of its name stands for Fishing Machine, and this ride certainly lives up to its name. It starts with a big-water-ready, aluminum deep-V hull formed from beefy 0.100 gauge aluminum that’s all-welded for extra durability. Because anglers like to be out there early and late in the season, there’s a full walk-thru windshield for protection from the elements. Raised bow and stern fishing decks, each with a large aerated live well, are a given, as is the abundant storage capacity for gear.

The big Lowe FM 1810 Pro WT really begins to impress when you step aboard and take a much closer look at all it has to offer. Starting on the bow, there’s a large elevated pad for mounting an electric motor, with a small storage bin below it. A second, massive in-floor storage locker lies under a compartment lid on the port side of the deck, while a similar lid on the starboard side opens to reveal a big, 23-gallon aerated live well. The large center-line locker accommodates eight fully-rigged fishing rods in individual tubes.

Step through the big split windshield and you enter the main cockpit. You can’t help notice the large compartment lid in the floor that provides access to yet more storage space. There’s convenient deck-level rod storage along the port side, with two tubes and a bungee cord to secure rods while changing spots. The boat comes with two pedestal-mount seats, and six seat bases allowing maximum versatility whether you’re casting, trolling or just enjoying an evening boat ride with the kids.

Behind the big windshield are elegantly formed fiberglass passenger and helm consoles. The passenger side offers a huge glove box for securely storing smaller items, while the helm is neatly set up with full instrumentation, including a tachometer, speedometer, fuel and trim gauges, each with attractive chrome bezels. An adjacent switch panel with tip-lit toggles controls electrical functions such as the lights and live wells. Anti-feedback steering comes standard, with hydraulic steering available as an optional upgrade.

The second raised casting deck in the stern houses its own 19-gallon aerated live well. Twin jump seats provide extra seating when needed, and the transom is reinforced with an extra-wide splash well to handle a kicker engine of up to 9.9 hp.

The Lowe FM 1810 Pro WT is rated to handle outboards of up to 175 horsepower, but the efficiency of its reverse-chine hull design gives it truly impressive performance with a 150 – saving buyers a few bucks and without giving up much more than two or three mph of top-end speed. Performance between the 150 and 175 is so close that will likely come rigged with the more common 150s.

An available swim platform complete with a retractable boarding ladder is a popular option.

The big Lowe comes with a long list of standard equipment, including a lot of goodies that might be considered options on other boats. But for those who like to have things their own way, Lowe offers an equally impressive option list with available upgrades like extra seats, a stand-up top, accessory tracks and even a swim platform.

Rated to handle outboards to 175 horsepower, the big Lowe runs very well with a fuel-efficient 150.
