The best backtrollers at any price
Tiller-controlled boats have long held a special place in the hearts of serious anglers and, especially, professional guides who might be called on to have to produce a variety of different fish species from one day to the next. Supremely versatile, tillers earn top marks from these anglers with their ability to do it all, and do it all very, very well.
With no steering console eating up valuable floor space, tillers are substantially more spacious than similarly sized boats with traditional side consoles, and much more spacious that dual console boats. Apart from offering a bit more elbow room, the extra space allows them to accommodate even more gear – something that no angler will regret. But more importantly, their tiller set-up allows anglers to control steering and throttle with one hand, leaving the other hand free to hold the rod and sense those extra delicate bites when conditions grow tough.
Sound good? Here are eight great tillers that any serious freshwater angler would be proud to own.
