A center console pontoon that delivers on value

It seems like a natural fit, and the designers at SunChaser Boats thought so too when they came up with their all-new SunChaser Geneva CC 24. Part of the company’s Geneva series of high-end pontoons, this all-new model combines the tremendous versatility of a center console with the massive interior space and stability of a pontoon. There’s a lot to talk about here, so let’s dive right in.
For starters, it really has to be emphasized that the SunChaser CC 24 is a boat for everyone. Thanks to its flat floor and easy access through dockside boarding gates, stepping aboard is a cinch – there’s no gasping or holding your breath as grandma climbs over the gunnel or has to step over unstable seat cushions. The accessibility of this boat and its big 30-inch entry gates makes it just as easy to accommodate a wheelchair or a baby stroller. Boating is for everyone, and the folks who put this boat together really get that, so kudos to the SunChaser design team. Standard flooring is a plush 24-ounce carpet, which can be upgraded to a fast-drying, hard-wearing vinyl if desired.
Once you are aboard, it’s time to settle in and get comfy. Up front in the bow you’ll find a pair of plushly-upholstered L-shaped lounge seats, each with integral drink holders so a cold pop or water is always within easy reach. Stereo speakers that neatly fit into the seat bases ensure everyone can enjoy the music or follow the ballgame, while the seat cushions themselves flip up to reveal large storage compartments underneath. Need a safe dry place to stow cameras, purses and other valuables? Look no further.
Need a place to change out of wet swim wear? The SunChaser Geneva CC 24 has that too, with a retractable change room that folds out of the lounge arm.
Joining these two loungers is a single forward-facing seat on the front of the console, an arrangement that creates an inviting private space for conversations or sharing some lunch.
The CC 24 has an extended front deck, which is accessed by stepping forward through the bow entry gate. Apart from providing a terrific second swim platform, the bow deck is spacious enough to accommodate a pair of pedestal-mounted fishing chairs, allowing the anglers in the family to cast away in comfort, while still being part of the group and enjoying the conversation.
The driver isn’t exactly left out on this boat. The large central console is brilliantly designed to provide a generously-proportioned helm and a substantial amount of storage space, all while taking up as little floor space as possible. Molded from an attractive fiberglass, the console starts with a huge flat dash panel that’s more than spacious enough to accommodate the largest touch-screen displays out there – or more than one, if you want. Forget about mounting a little fishfinder up on top of the dash, this one is designed from the outset to work with the display of the buyer’s choice for a helm that’s truly without compromise.
Even with this vast amount of dash space, there’s still plenty of space up top for stowing small items, which are protected behind a stylish acrylic windscreen and a stainless steel grab rail that frames the entire console. Below the main dash panel, a double row of illuminated rocker switches control electrical accessories such as the lights, live well, bilge pumps and such, flanked by a pair of traditional dial multi-gauges as a backup to the big display screen for added safety. A pair of drink holders, a super-comfortable Gucci Giazza steering wheel with tilt function, the control head for the Jensen MS3A stereo with Bluetooth, an integrated storage shelf and a thoughtful footrest complete the helm.
The driver and a guest enjoy a proper double-wide center console leaning post, this one with a removable 36-quart Igloo cooler in its base, and another flip-down footrest. The aft face includes a number of rocket launcher-style rod holders with drink holders between them.
Because fishing is such a popular pastime for buyers of both center console and pontoon boats, SunChaser focused the stern of the Geneva CC 24 on wetting a line in style. Two more swiveling, pedestal-mount fishing chairs occupy the aft corners of the boat, sharing a transom-mounted fishing station between them – complete with a live well, twin rod holders, twin drink holders, a convenient measuring rule to check the catch is legal and four vertical rod racks for stowing tackle between spots.
SunChaser has a well-earned reputation for amazing attention to detail, and that’s clearly apparent in this boat’s unusual gunnel design. As with big offshore consoles, the gunnels on this boat include a couple of integrated storage compartments, two more stereo speakers, a nice flat top that’s handy for drying out lures before they go back in the tackle box, and a long extruded aluminum strip that allows buyers to easily attach a wide range of accessories, from rod holders to tool holders and more, exactly where they need to go and without drilling a single hole anywhere in the boat. There’s also a generous amount of soft coaming, with a neat SunChaser logo.
Overhead, a Bimini top provides a welcome escape from the mid-day sun on those particularly toasty afternoons.
Out back, the aft deck of the SunChaser Geneva CC 24 extends to provide a welcome rear swim platform, complete with a five-step retractable boarding ladder, which is accessed through a third entry gate on the starboard side.
Families who can’t decide between a center console or a pontoon really owe it to themselves to check out the brilliant SunChaser Geneva CC 24. With its spacious layout and incredible versatility, it really does offer the best of both worlds.
