Stabilizers added to 2019 models
Summerville, South Carolina-based Scout Boats has confirmed the company will now offer Seakeeper marine gyro stabilization systems as standard equipment in its 380 LXF and Scout 420 LXF luxury center consoles, with plans to add the equipment to further models moving forward.
Scout has offered Seakeeper 3 and Seakeeper 6 units as options previously. The company elected to make the stabilizers standard equipment for 2019 380 LXF and Scout 420 LXF models “because of consumer demand” according to Alan Lang, Scout’s director of sales and marketing. In so doing, the builder placed the largest product order in Seakeeper’s history.
Seakeeper, based in California, Maryland, has won a number of industry awards for its innovative gyro stabilizers, which are said to eliminate up to 95% of boat movement when operating in rough water. Since selling its first gyro in 2008, the company has developed a growing catalog of models for an expanding range of boat sizes. The company has more than 160 employees in the US, UK, Italy, Germany and Singapore.
Tampa, Florida-based Bertram Yachts will also include Seakeeper gyro stabilizers as standard equipment on all current and future vessels.
“Every day we’re seeing more and more boat builders adding Seakeeper to their models, not just as options, but as standard equipment,” said Andrew Semprevivo, Seakeeper president and CEO. “When air conditioning for cars was introduced, it was a luxury option. Now it’s standard across all brands and models. We’re heading quickly in that same direction with boat stabilization.”
