Electric motor manufacturer Torqeedo has introduced what the company describes as its highest performing ultralight electric motor ever.
Designed for use on small craft like kayaks and canoes, the 1 horsepower-equivalent Ultralight 403 C is an updated, longer-running model of Torqeedo’s smallest electric outboard. The Ultralight 403 C comes with a a 915 Wh battery that delivers 2.85 times more capacity to the previous version, while adding just 3.7 pounds to the outfit’s overall weight. With a total weight of 22 pounds including the battery, the Ultralight 403 C has a top speed of 6 mph and a maximum range of more than 75 miles at 2.6 mph.
The Ultralight 403 C even comes with a GPS-based digital display so that users can monitor power consumption and remaining range (time or distance) in real time. An optional folding solar panel allows the battery to be easily recharged in remote locations, or even while underway, while the available TorqTrac smartphone pp can be used to display motor information remotely on a portable device.
Available now, the Ultralight 403 C comes complete with battery, charger, remote throttle and on-board GPS computer for an MSRP of $2,299 plus shipping. The standard warranty is two years for non-commercial use.
