Dual-console boats were first popularized on small bowriders and aluminum fishing boats, with the idea being that the twin consoles would provide some much-needed storage space while protecting the occupants from the cool morning air. But the design proved so popular that we’re beginning to see it appear on much larger boats, including hulls that would have once been built as cruisers.

Case-in-point is Grady-White’s 36-foot Freedom 375, the flagship of the company’s Freedom line and its largest outboard-powered dual console boat to date. Reflecting consumer preference for more open deck layouts, more seating and usable outside space, the Freedom 375 is a versatile design that’s equally at home taking the gang out fishing, pulling the kids on a tube, or enjoying a sunset cruise – and all on the same day.

Grady-White Freedom 375 Cockpit

The spacious cockpit seating features a wrap-around companion lounge with a removable table.

Making the most of some truly innovative engineering, Grady-White has managed to pack the Freedom 375 with useful features while retaining that coveted open deck layout. The roomy bow offers comfortable seating for six or more, with a full wrap-around lounge seat surrounding a pair of D-shaped stowable tables – an arrangement that allows full access forward or rearward with the tables in place. A stereo remote and plug-ins for cell phone charging are nice touches.

But the real magic happens in the main cockpit. Look up, and note that the fiberglass top houses stereo speakers, integrated fishing rod storage, cockpit sunroof, retractable sun shade that extends back over the aft cockpit, and even an optional, fold-down flat-screen TV. A double-wide, elecromechanically adjustable helm seat with flip-up bolsters faces a sleek console with space for twin 15-inch multi-function displays. Just aft of the helm seat sits a standard kitchen/wet bar, complete with refrigerator, sink and a 1,300-watt grill. To port, a deluxe L-shaped wraparound companion seat with removable table makes a comfy place to unwind.

An extendable sun shade provides cockpit shade while fishing.

A look inside of the air conditioned passenger console reveals a pair of 80-inch berths, plush bench seat, cedar lined closet, mirror, folding table, entertainment system, and space for plenty of bulk storage. Inside the driver’s console, there’s a spacious, air conditioned head compartment with shower, sink, mirror, storage space and even a microwave oven.

The open stern is built for fishing, with a 208-quart insulated fish box and 30-gallon live well. Or deploy the extra-large fold-away aft bench seat to provide additional seating here. The port-side lounge seat can also be extended as required.

Grady-White Freedom 375 Passenger Console Interior

The air conditioned port console provides two full-size berths, a plush bench seat, cedar lined closet, mirror, folding table and entertainment system.

While the standard equipment list is extensive, the Freedom 375 stands out with its available options. One of the most popular is a convenient side-entry door to starboard, which provides easy access from the dock by eliminating the need to climb over the gunnel. An optional refrigerator/freezer takes care of all the fish you can catch, while available underwater lighting gives the boat a classy look.

Grady-White Freedom 375 Passenger Bow Seating

The roomy bow offers comfortable seating for six or more, with a full wrap-around lounge seat surrounding a pair of D-shaped tables.

Although designed primarily as a day boat, the Freedom 375 offers enough range and interior amenities to easily manage short cruises as well. Rated to handle up to 1,050 horsepower and with an enormous 320-gallon fuel capacity, this boat is big enough to handle open ocean or large inland lakes with ease. Rigged with triple 300s, it will attain top speeds of close to 50 mph while cruising economically at 30 mph.
