On August 8th, Mercury Marine hosted a mainstream media event at Chelsea Piers in New York City.  The goal of the event was to expand the Mercury and Go Boldly brand and invite both marine and non-marine journalists to test out the latest technology and power that Mercury offers.

More than 20 writers and TV personalities from outlets such as FOX News, CNBC, Men’s Health and Car & Driver and others did stories on Mercury and the boating industry – some getting on a boat for the first time ever.

Mercury continues to host these mainstream events to expose their brand and products to a national audience, working with journalists who write about technology, automotive or other beats that mirror the marine industry.  The general sentiment is, “I had no idea how easy boating could be.”

This is the second consecutive year Mercury has hosted an event like this in New York and the second event of its kind in 2017 as they hosted a mainstream media event in Chicago earlier this year.   Mercury says it will continue to expand on these events and continue to host members of the mainstream media in multiple cities in 2018.

A total of seven boats were part of the experience, including an Outerlimits craft powered by two 1,350-horsepower Mercury engines. This boat set a speed record of more than 180 mph and went more than 100 mph with journalists on board at this event.
