Yamaha Marine Group has renamed its Precision Propellers Industries (PPI) subsidiary and will refocus the operation by discontinuing production of non-Yamaha-branded propellers.
The Indianapolis-based company, now known as Yamaha Precision Propellers, Inc. was acquired by Yamaha in 2008 to “better serve customers with stainless steel propeller solutions for an ever-increasing number of new boat/motor applications.” The purchase strengthened production capacity and helped ensure high quality propellers for Yamaha Outboards, while fostering continued growth for the brand.
Since being acquired by Yamaha, PPI has enjoyed double-digit growth in propeller demand year over year.
“Today, more than ever, we are focused on meeting the demands of Yamaha customers, so the time was right to change the name of the plant to reflect that direction,” said Bill Boehman, vice president, Yamaha Marine Group, in a statement. “And while we will continue to produce our Turbo Propellers, which are a key part of Yamaha’s Endless Propeller Solutions, we will discontinue production of non-Yamaha branded propellers to increase capacity even further.”
Yamaha continues to expand its propeller lineup, most recently with the launch of the Talon SDS aluminum propeller family for mid-range outboards.
