Electric trolling motor manufacturer Minn Kota has announced significant enhancements to its Spot-Lock GPS anchor system providing greater accuracy and functionality..
A key feature in the company’s new i-Pilot, and i-Pilot Link motor systems, the updated Spot-Lock functionality leverages advancements in hardware, software, and communications which allow boaters to remain actively “locked” to a given location at the push of a button using GPS technology and Minn Kota’s auto-driven electric motor to maintain the boat’s position as if it were anchored. The enhanced system is said to be the most accurate electronic anchoring system available.
“Minn Kota has consistently maintained a culture of innovation and continuous improvements to our products, said Brad Henry, Minn Kota brand manager. “After the launch of i-Pilot, which brought the revolutionary benefits of Spot-Lock to anglers, we did not stop. Through this commitment, we’ve reinvented Spot-Lock to make it the most accurate electronic GPS anchor ever.”
The system, said to hold the boat in position with unmatched precision and consistency, comes standard in 2017 Minn Kota i-Pilot and i-Pilot Link systems, and factory-installed on Bluetooth-enabled bow-mount trolling motors including Ultrex, Ulterra, Terrova and PowerDrive, as well as Riptide Ulterra, Riptide Terrova and Riptide PowerDrive. Product is expected to begin shipping to dealers this fall.
