Visitors to this year’s Newport International Boat Show will be able to enjoy a new series of educational seminars and workshops featuring what organizers describe as “world-renowned” instructors.

The all-new, on-water program builds upon past educational offerings to now include the Confident Captain’s At The Helm instruction program, Sail America’s Discover Sailing program, and the CruiserPort University seminar series presented by PassageMaker, Sail, Soundings and Power & Motoryacht. “Every year we aim to expand and diversify our education programs at the show,” said Nancy Piffard, show director for event organizer with Newport Exhibition Group. “By partnering with industry publications and associations, we are able to offer more courses and seminars that are of interest to our attendees. People come to the Newport show from all over the world and we have everything they could possibly want to see or experience, all in one destination.”

Confident Captain presents a series of courses run by professional, licensed Captains and US powerboating-certified instructors. Hands-on courses range from 90-minute to three-hour sessions, and cover topics including powerboat docking and maneuvering for single- and twin-engine vessels. Women-only Powerboating for Beginners courses, and youth powerboating outreach courses, are new for 2016.
