Century Boats approaches the century mark, celebrating its 90th year in business in 2016.
Zephyrhills, Florida-based Century Boats is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2016.
Founded in Milwaukee in 1926, the Century Boat Company subsequently relocated to Manistee, Michigan in 1928, where it quickly developed a name for its innovative designs and at one point set a world outboard speed record (50.93 mph) with one of its Hurricane models. Yamaha Motor Corp. purchased Century in September 1995, merging it with Cobia Boat Company to form C&C Manufacturing. In 2012, Century was acquired from Yamaha by family-owned Allcraft Marine, LLC and relocated to Zephyrhills.
The company says it will mark its nine decades in the boatbuilding business by reintroducing its 24-foot, dual console Resorter model, last produced more than 20 years ago.
“We are so happy and fortunate to advance the Century brand as we celebrate 90 years of creating high-quality, high-performance boats that are familiar to, and loved by, enthusiasts all around the world,” said Century Boats president, Bryan Lucius. “The Century Boats of today certainly embodies the spirit of its great legacy – and our entire team is proud to contribute to the growth of the Century brand from our home right here in Zephyrhills.”
Century currently manufactures a range of center console, walkaround, express and inshore fiberglass models from 17 to 32 feet.
