The first new marina facility to open in New York City in over two decades is completing final preparation in anticipation of next month’s gala ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina features 102 slips accommodating boats from 16 feet to 250 feet in length while offering a beautiful view of the downtown Manhattan skyline. Located just south of the famed Brooklyn Bridge, the new facility will provide high quality seasonal docking facilities and host a sailing club. Amenities include fresh water, power and wireless Internet at every slip, 24-hour security and gated access, pump-out facilities and close proximity to dining, shopping and entertainment.

The facility is said to utilize a 17-foot wide floating concrete breakwater with state-of-the-art wave attenuation by Marinetek to keep waves within the marina restricted to a maximum of one foot in height, offering what owners describe as the calmest marina environment on New York Harbor. Built with many environmental considerations in mind, the marina uses 40 percent translucent decking materials to reduce shading of the water and encourage marine growth.

According to a press release, ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina will feature “exceptional community programs that will make boating and kayaking available to city residents of all ages, abilities, and incomes” in a bid to introduce urban dwellers to the boating lifestyle. Representing nearly 25 percent of the square footage of dock space at ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina, the Community Dock will offer free and low-cost community boating coordinated by the marina with its community partners. A full program is in development.

Reservations for seasonal and transient slips are now being taken for the 2016 season, running May 1 to October 31.
