Suzuki Marine has introduced two new second-generation four-stroke outboards made for portable applications.
Weighing just 51.8 pounds, the all-new DF4A and DF6A are described as being lighter than any comparable four-stroke outboards in their horsepower class. Combined with a larger and more ergonomic integrated carrying handle, the lighter weight makes these outboards easier to handle and easier to mount on the transom of small jonboats, dinghies or inflatables.
A number of innovations under the hood are designed to make these outboards more efficient, including an offset crankshaft engine design that reduces engine vibration and improves fuel efficiency. A new, gravity-fed fuel delivery system eliminates the need to prime the fuel line before starting, even after storage, while a newly designed easy recoil starter requires less effort to use.
Both engines get a newly designed cowling, new graphics, and a new Nebular Black paint job. They also feature Suzuki’s anti-corrosion finish system, which is applied directly to the aluminum surface to insure a maximum bond and increases engine protection and durability. Standard features include digital CDI ignition, five-pin tilt adjustment, 180-degree tiller steering and an onboard 0.4 gallon (1.5L) fuel tank. The DF6 adds a connector to run from an external fuel tank.
“Suzuki pays attention to important details, even on these smaller outboards,” said Gus Blakely, director and division head for Suzuki Marine. “Were committed to providing every customer with the ultimate experience on the water, and these new generation portable outboards are no exception.”
