ACR Electronics celebrates six decades of manufacturing safety equipment, including a full line of emergency locator beacons.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based ACR Electronics is celebrating its diamond anniversary this year.

Founded in 1956 by the late David Rush, ACR manufactures high-tech safety equipment, including a full line of personal locator beacons used by boaters, air crews, campers, hunters and military personnel. The company occupies a modern, 50,000 square foot headquarters in Fort Lauderdale and employs 180 people. ACR gained considerable exposure in 1970 when a penlight manufactured by the company factored in rescuing the crew of the ill-fated Apollo 13 lunar mission.

To celebrate its six decade milestone, ACR plans to host a number of celebrations and support several philanthropic projects. The company also plans to host a special event at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November, where they will celebrate their decades of success with their dealers, the press and the customers who have supported them throughout the years.
